A team of CPMU as well as World Bank officials visited Odisha and Hirakud dam during 19-22nd September 2018. The construction of additional spillway of Hirakud dam is one of the important rehabilitation work under DRIP. The CPMU DRIP was represented by Sh. Pramod Narayan, Project Director DRIP and Sh Bikram Kesari Patra, Dy Director, CWC and Ex. Engineer, Burla Division, CWC. World Bank was represented by Mr. Alessandro Palmieri, Former Lead Dam Specialist, Mr. Satoru Ueda, Lead Dam Specialist, Dr. Chabungbam Rajgopal Singh, Task Team Leader DRIP, Mr. Arun Kumar Kolsur, Co - Task Team Leader DRIP. The GSI was represented by Sh. Jaideep Mukherjee. The Odisha WRD team was represented by Sh P K Jena, Principal Secretary, Odisha WRD along with other senior officers of Odisha WRD. The team reviewed the various aspects of proposed construction of additional spillway Hirakud dam, Inflow Forecasting at Hirakud dam including civil and hydro-mechanical components of Hirakud dam. The World Bank team appreciated the ongoing DRIP works at Hirakud dam and suggested further measures to address the safety concerns. |
